Re: Loneliness
Pragmatism is what separates the survivors from the perishers, and also what keeps the world turning.

You can sit there feeling shit about how bad things in the world are, or you can make the best of a bad situation no matter how harrowing or awful the state of the world today is.

There is ALWAYS someone in a worse boat than you.

Agree. There's a lady over the road who lives on her own. Always find time to stop for a chat. There again she's always up for a chat so it doesnt feel like you're intruding.

Re: Loneliness
I struck up a friendship with a bloke in his 80's, he made me a cuppa one day when I was working for his neighbour who was at work. Back then his wife had dementia and was in a home, he'd get the bus every day to visit her, most days she didn't even recognise him.

She died earlier this year, and now he has more time on his hands than ever before. I always pop by for a cuppa and a chat when I can. You have to think that one day that could be you and you hope that there's someone around who will give you the time of day.

I can assure you most of my younger relatives rarely speak with my elderly relatives apart from special occasions and then they are distanced so much they have little in common.

It'd the loneliness of the elderly that I find tragic - widow or widower having to take on life on their own at an age when they become very vulnerable.

I prefer spiders to people.

Come to think of it, I prefer mushrooms to people.

Ah. I can only assume that certain types fall into this catagory because they are not participating at all? You've got to put your hand up and make an effort.

Re: Loneliness
As Ricky Gervais said, I don't mind human beings, but they're not my favourite animals.

After working in a company, and a city on a daily basis, populated ever frequently by more and more cunts, time on my own now is an absolute blessing.
